Lil’ Skateboard P has always been in the forefront of fashion. As both an icon and designer, his unique style and creative process have earned him much due respect in the fashion world. In 2015 alone he was given the Fashion Icon honor at the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers) Awards and a Collaboration of the Year award from WWD’s (Women’s Wear Daily) Footwear News for his project with Timberland.
After reacquiring his stake in Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Brands, and his 2-year project with G-Star on RAW for the Oceans (a plan to use recycled plastic to make denim), the singer/rapper/producer has been asked to join the G-Star team on a whole new, deeper level as co-owner.
“In working with Pharrell Williams we wish to continue to innovate by allowing Pharrell to push the boundaries even further across all aspects of our business from creating new product ideas and new visions on sustainability to creating new brand experiences,” said Thecia Schaeffer, CMO. “We are genuinely excited to welcome Pharrell into the G-Star mission in order to reimagine the future of denim together.”
P. Willy will be taking part in more than just design, taking part in different dimensions of G-Star such as advertising and media strategy.
“G-Star is an independently minded and forward thinking company,” the Npetunes producer stated. “I believe they will be the definitive jeans brand of the 21st century. I am looking forward to being part of that mission and to co-create G-Star’s future.”
